I look forward to practicing yoga in this independently curated, awe-inspiring space. Additionally, the practice is led by two amazingly gifted yoga teachers, Kendall Beene and Erin Lambright, co-founders of New Yoga Now, and I am just so grateful to have these two in my life. Roll out your mat next to mine at Laney Contemporary Fine Art. This space has been on my hometown wanderlist ever since I laid my eyes on a cover of Savannah Magazine where Emily Testa featured those insanely vibrant doors. I fell in love and I can’t wait to move, breathe, and set drishti upon the works of En Plein Air, a solo exhibition from artist, Will Penny. En Plein Air could very well be the guru here. Penny acknowledges, “a search for the sublime or a deepening experience with the act of perception is a journey rather than a finish line.” I can’t wait to feel and hear NYN’s refreshingly abstract take on this translation of the intentional liberation we seek in the yogic path.
Lululemon Broughton is offering another complimentary series to move, breathe, and connect with your community. I am really excited about this one - we're highlighting the practice of yoga and how it shows up in life through the message "this is yoga." Everything that we do mindfully, is ultimately yoga. Practice on the mat, and carry it with you through the week. That's what it's all about, and remembering that it is called a "practice" for a reason. Whatever you're in the practice of, remember to take rest and acknowledge yourself for the work that you do. See lululemon Savannah's Facebook event for more details.
I think the title of this event speaks for itself, and I'll add to the amazing-ness of this event. The super duper lovely Biza Mabry will lead an hour of yoga flow fun, followed by drinks and hors d'oevres on the dock as the moon rises. $15 donation, uber or carpool recommended, check out her Facebook event for more details.
I am honored to be a part of Savannah Power Yoga x SPRY mind & body monthly satsang series. While the work we do on the mat is a powerful vehicle for transformation, asana practice is just one of eight profound limbs of the practice of yoga. Together we will discuss and reflect on the ethical principles of yoga and how to apply these to our daily lives.
SPY and SPRY teachers will lead these meetings based on Deborah Adele's book, The Yamas and the Niyamas: Exploring Yoga's Ethical Practice. Through discussion and reflection of these principles, we will practice translating yoga into our way of being.
Join Kendall Beene and Erin Lambright, co-founders of New Yoga Now, for a yoga workshop series pop-up at the Trustees Garden. I just love their mission of spreading yoga in new ways, places, and spaces; while keeping it simple with the old traditions of the practice. These two are simply delightful to practice with - enjoy intentional breathing, mindfulness in movement, and sequencing to nourish your body and soul.
